How to Configure Email Routing in cPanel?

Welcome to our step-by-step guide on configuring email routing in cPanel, a crucial process for managing your email flow efficiently. Email routing determines how incoming messages are handled, directing them to the appropriate server or destination.

Whether you're setting up a new email system or optimizing an existing one, this guide will walk you through the process in a clear and concise manner.

Follow each step carefully to ensure seamless email communication for your cPanel-powered domain:

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

Provide your designated username and password to login to cPanel.

Step 2: Press the Email Routing Option

Scroll down to locate the Email section within your cPanel. Subsequently, locate the Email Routing icon and proceed to click on it.

Step 3: Warning Alert

Upon accessing the Email Routing page, a cautionary message will greet you, emphasizing the potential issues that may arise from selecting an incorrect option, leading to disruptions in email delivery. If uncertainty persists, it is recommended to reach out to your system administrator.

Step 4: Zone Editor Message

Following the alert, you'll find a message providing a link to the Zone editor. If your goal is to modify the mail server records (MX Records), utilize the Zone editor for implementing these changes.

Step 5: Select Domain

Upon encountering the notice, locate the section marked "Domain." Click on the drop-down arrow to choose the specific domain for which you intend to modify the email routing.

Step 6: Click Change

Please choose your desired options. If your email server is hosted externally, select the Remote Mail Exchanger. If you're hosting email with your InMotion Hosting server account, opt for the Local Mail Exchanger. Alternatively, you can use the Automatic option to let cPanel make the selection for you. Once you've made your choice, click the blue "Change" button to save your selection.
