How to apply Global Filter & Email Filter on your domain through cPanel?


Global email filters and email filters in C-panel are set to avoid unwanted emails and particular terms in emails and gives you another level and high level of control especially over spam emails that you receive daily in bulk.

Please follow the below steps to set up a global email filter:

 

Step-1:


Login to your C-Panel.



Step-2:


Under email section click on global email filter.



Step-3:

Now click on “create email filter”

 

There are three fields we need to fill according to our requirements:


Filter Name: “The filter name must be unique. If you give the filter the same name as another filter, the previous filter will be overwritten”


Rule: Set the rules you wish to use to filter spam emails. Every rule has its own unique criteria and a word that describes how to compare them to a message.
Following criteria you can select and description is given below:


From — Sender’s address.

Subject — Message’s subject common line.

To — Email address to which the sender sent the email.

Reply — the address on which the sender receives replies.

Body — Email content.

Any Header — Spam Email header.

Any recipient — Recipient of the email.

Has not been previously delivered — System only check the email that is remain in the queue for delivery.

Is an Error Message — the system only check error messages that an auto-response sends.

List ID — the account’s mailing lists.

Spam Status — whether Spam filter marked the message as spam. The Spam Status line begins with Yes or No.

Spam Bar — the content of the Spam Bar header that spam filter generated for this message.

Spam Score — the total number of plus signs (+) in the Spam Bar value, expressed as an integer.


The following comparison operators are available:


Equals — the email matches a defined string.

Matches regex — the email matches a regular expression that we define.

Contains — the email contains a certain sentence or word that you define.

Does not contain — the email does not contain the defined sentence or word.

Begins with — the email begins with the defined sentence or word.

Ends with — the email ends with the defined sentence or word.

Does not begin — the email does not begin with the defined sentence or word.

Does not end with — the email does not end with the defined sentence or word.

Does not match — the email does not exactly match the defined sentence or word.

Action: Select the Action you wish to do when an incoming email matches the rule you just created.

The following actions we can apply:

Discard Message:

Discard the email:

Redirect to Email:

Forward the email to a specific email address:

Fail with Message:

Discard the email and send a failure notification to the sender:

Stop processing rules:

Ignore all filter rules:

Deliver to Folder:

Deliver the email to a specific email folder:

Pipe to a Program: Send the email to a specific program for further checking:


Step-4:

Now after entering desired settings click on Create button.



Your new global email filter is created, now the emails for the particular email address you defined in the rule will be filtered and you will have smooth level of emails in your web hosting environment.
