Recover my Plesk password

Recover my Plesk password

This article will go through the steps of recovering a lost Plesk password for Linux servers.

  1. SSH (win/mac) into the server as the 'root' user.
  2. Once logged in as the 'root' user, type the following at command prompt:

less /etc/psa/.psa.shadow

The password will be displayed in plain text. This is the password to log into the Plesk interface. If you need to reset the password, you can do so via command line by running the following command or by logging into the Plesk interface:

vi /etc/psa/.psa.shadow

Then enter in the new password on this screen and save the file.
